About Katie

Hello all! The name is Katie! Nice to meet ya! Some simple things to know about me:

A Summary of My Life:

  • I am terrible at cleaning. My house is almost always a disorganized mess and even when it's "clean" there is still clutter. I'd much rather be creating than cleaning.
  • I cannot resist a nap when it is offered. I love to sleep. I think my husband is jealous of my love affair with our bed.
  • I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Lord of the Rings. Nerd alert!
  • Line dancing is about my favorite thing in the world. Zumba is a close second. Yee-haw!
  • I once toilet papered my own house when my mom told me I couldn't toilet paper a friend's.
  • I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. To learn more about what I believe, please follow this link!
The Rest of the Story:

Okay, so those facts aren't really a summary of my life, though they do sum me up pretty well. Here's a more in depth look at me.

I was born and raised in a small town in Utah to goodly parents and three older sisters who are each over a decade older than I am. I was a spoiled little turd because of this. I loved roller blading, traveling, camping, and singing the most. I was sure I was going to be a singer when I grew up. (Though I do enjoy singing to my kids, and singing harmonies with my husband when he's working on his music. And, of course, a good karaoke night!)

Fast forward a couple of years to 2013. I was living in Las Vegas and met the man of my dreams. Russ swept me off my feet as he wore a too big security uniform at the line dance hall that I used to frequent on the weekends. In just under a year, we made the decision to move back to my home town.

We are now happily married, living in this tiny city with our beautiful little girl Olivia, and our handsome little boy, Michael. They are a year and two days apart, and they keep us busy! A lot has happened in our little lives since we met in 2013. Russ was baptized a member in June of 2015 and we were sealed as a family in 2016 in the Vernal, UT Temple. It was magical!

I was called to be the Primary Chorister Assistant in September of 2017. Never heard of a Primary Chorister Assistant? Neither had I! It was an idea our Primary president had to pair us up so that we would always have someone to help the other. Sister Carbine was so much fun to work with and so talented, but we both agree that this isn't really a calling that is meant to be shared.

In May of 2018, my Co-Chorister was moved to our ward's Music Chairman, and I was given the calling! And the creative juices have seriously been pumping ever since! I've created some new activities, and have been stocking up all the ideas I can find. I can't wait to share my activities and tips with you, as well as share the wonderful resources I've found from other incredible Primary Choristers!

I absolutely love my calling! I love working with children, I love to sing, and I love to create. All of these things fit so well into being in charge of Singing Time. I hope that by reading this blog, you'll find lots of help and ideas to help you fall completely in love with your calling, too!
